Your JourneyDay 1 Arrive Vienna and take the train to Breclav where you will be transferred to Valtice. Day 2 Valtice to Lednice (11 km) Tour the Baroque Valtice Chateau then follow a path through fields, vineyards and forest to Lednice. Visit the Gothic Revival Chateau of Lednice, one of the most ornate of its style. Transfer to Mikulov. Day 3 Pavlov to Mikulov (10 km) Walk the Palava Hills through the ruins of Divci hrady (Maiden’s Castle), then to the highest point at 550m. Return via the ruins of Sirotci hradek (Orphan’s castle) then down to Mikulov, a magic castle town surrounded by vineyards. Transfer to Vranov nad Dyji. Day 4 Mikulov - Cizov - Hardegg - Vranov nad Dyji - Telc (14 km) Transfer to Cizov. Walk in the unspoiled beauty of Podyji National Park starting in the village of Cizov, a last reminder of the Iron Curtain. Continue to the Austrian village of Hardegg with its ancient castle. Tour the magnificent clifftop Baroque chateau in Vranov. Transfer to Telc. Day 5 - Telc - Slavonice – Landstejn – Nova Bystrice – Jindrichuv Hradec (12 km) Transfer from Telc to Slavonice, a forgotten jewel with sgraffito houses. The hiking trail begins in the town and finishes at the castle of Landstejn. On the way, see an outdoor museum of military bunkers that were built all along the Czech borders in the 1930s. From Nova Bystrice take the quaint narrow-gauge railway through the sparsely inhabited, forested region called “Czech Canada” to Jindrichuv Hradec. Day 6 Trebon to Kojakovice (14 km) Tour the historic town and castle of Jindrichuv Hradec, then continue through the mosaic of ponds, woods and meadows of the Bohemia Lake District to Trebon, a medieval walled city. Skirt a man-made lake that was an engineering wonder of the 16thC then transfer to Cesky Krumlov. Day 7 Cesky Krumlov - Klet - Cesky Krumlov (16 km) Transfer by train to Zlata Koruna to view its monastery. Continue over the highest peak of the Blansky Forest: Klet. Hike back to Cesky Krumlov. Day 8 Cesky Krumlov to Prague Day free to enjoy all that Cesky Krumlov has to offer. Take the late afternoon bus to Prague where walking holiday arrangements terminate.
