Sparkling Franciacorta
Self-Guided Tour - 7 Days / 6 Nights
Lombardy’s Lakes, in the north of Italy, are like sparkling jewels ringed by snowy peaks. The diamond in this cluster is the small region of Franciacorta, (pronounced Franchi – a –corta).
The area’s name is synonymous with the delicious sparkling wine that comes from there. Franciacorte wines challenge the real thing as they are produced based on the French style of champagne but without the price tag! When you walk in Franciacorta you immerse into the whole process of this unique wine. The climate is mild and the landscape gently contours. Trails skirt vineyards and small villages in the lee of a circle of rounded hills. Large and small vineyards will welcome you in for a tasting and tour of cellars, an enormous source of pride to the winemaker. Stay at charming ‘agriturismos’, hotels and an atmospheric, restored Capuchin monastery.
