Queen Charlotte Walk - Marlborough Sounds
4 & 5 Day Guided and Self-Guided Walks
Nestled in the Marlborough Sounds is one of NZ's most stunning walkways - the Queen Charlotte Track. It was in the Marlborough Sounds that Captain James Cook made his base in the Pacific in the late 17th century when circumnavigating the globe. He must have thought he had arrived in paradise. Little has changed since then. Thickly wooded spurs rise from the depths of the Sounds, magnificent beech forest and native bush are rarely touched by human intervention. Streams flow over stepped stones in every hue from gold to chocolate, softly framed with bright green mosses and delicate ferns. The water is so clear that every rock and pebble is clearly visible and as drinking water, it is safe and pure. There are endless vistas of the islands and bays, billion dollar views every one of them.
Walk inn-to-inn style with your luggage transferred, guided or self-guided. Stay at charming lodges in superb settings along the way and in the evenings relax over good food and wine.
