Botswana: Luxury Fly-in Safaris

Guided - 5, 7 & 10 Days

A safari to Africa is to a continent where wild animals still roam according to the laws and cycle of nature. Southern Africa offers one of the most diverse experiences with endless miles of desert that dissolves into the horizon; lush green waterways; canyon-like landscapes; and coastline of two major oceans. These habitats support innumerable species of animal and birdlife plus insects and flora that keep the cycle of nature in tact.
Expect to be amazed when you see a herd of elephants swimming across the Chobe River; tawny lions almost undetected sleeping in grass the same colour as their coats; a graceful giraffe drinking from a waterhole on its knees; and your first ‘kill’ where hyenas lurk ready to steal the prize.

We recommend you start your journey in the heart of Southern Africa – BOTSWANA.

Why Start in Botswana?

Botswana is considered a safe travel destination. It is both financially and politically stable. It has been spared much of the unrest and turmoil, which plagues so many countries in Africa. The country only has a small population of just over two million people and most of the country (80%) is Kalahari Desert.

Okavango Delta & Moremi Game Reserve

The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta which borders the Moremi Game Reserve and a miracle of nature. Experience the astonishing contrasts created when the mighty Okavango River flows into the arid Kalahari Desert. The result is a variety of habitats, riverine forest, palm islands, permanent swamps, and dry sandveld, all with an unparalleled wealth of diversity among species. Guided dugout canoe (mokoro) trips take you into the heart of this paradisiacal oasis of islands and waterways and up close to excellent game viewing and bird watching. This remarkable region is a Wetland of International Importance (RAMSAR site) due to its unique ecosystem. Most visitors to Botswana rate the Okavango Delta as the highlight of their trip and it is not hard to see why – in terms of pristine beauty, remote location and rich diversity of animal and bird life, the Okavango Delta is unbeatable.

Chobe National Park

The flood plain of the Chobe River provides a stunning backdrop for herds of elephant in staggering concentrations of up to 50,000! As well as elephants there are many other species that can be found in the Park. In contrast, the Savuti area is dry waving grasslands where animals roam in search of water closely eyed by their predators.

Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pan

These two vast reserves combined are around the size of Portugal. It is one of the less visited parts of Botswana and home to the Kalahari Bushmen. Unlike the game-rich areas of northern Botswana the wildlife here has adapted to days without water and sightings can be rare but exciting, like the ghostly image of a desert elephant plastered white in Kalahari dust or a lone gemsbok in a vast plain of nothing.

Africa Fly-in Safaris to Luxury Tented Camps

For a truly wilderness experience in Africa, a fly-in safari to a luxury tented camp on a private concession is a dream come true.

These small intimate camps of no more than 20 guests are isolated and set in thousands of hectares of African wilderness. See game close-up in its natural environment , unaffected by too many landrovers and gaping tourists. There are a variety of game-viewing activities: on foot, by open landrover, mokoro (dog-out canoe) and motorised boat.

After your game-viewing activities, retreat to your rustic safari camp and be pampered in the style of ‘Africa of old’: candlelit dinners; authentically furnished spacious tents with ensuite bathrooms; game-viewing platforms to allow you to view passing game any time; finish at the boma (campfire) each night with a special night cap and stories of the day’s experiences.
