Switzerland's Via Alpina - Stage Bernese Oberland: Meiringen to Lenk
Self-Guided Tour - 8 Days / 7 Nights
The Via Alpina crosses 14 of the most beautiful Alpine passes. Hikers experience a fascinating variety of culture, geology and topography on a journey across six Swiss cantons.
Being an alpine trail, the walks are at altitudes between 1,000 – 3,000 metres so the walking season is short, only from June to October. It’s pure unspoilt nature sprinkled with alpine traditions. One of the prettiest sections is the Bernese Oberland where you are drawn to incredible views of the “Big Three”; the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. To be amongst these mountains you don’t have to climb by your own efforts. The Swiss rail system brought tourism to the region and services almost every small town with access to alpine regions.
There’s no better way to get to know the many facets of Swiss alpine culture. Discover alp huts where pigs, goats and cows watch an Alpine herdsman making cheese in a copper cauldron over an open fire!
