Day 1 Arrive Barr

Wander the narrow streets lined with ancient half-timbered houses and the beautiful architecture of the main square.

Day 2 Barr - Andlau (Walking – 14 km)

The path you will follow today runs through the famous vineyards and their wine-making villages, which are among the most beautiful in Alsace: Mittelbergheim and Andlau. There is an optional walk in the hills to Chateaux of Haut-Andlau and Spesbourg.

Day 3 Andlau - Dieffenthal (Walking – 16 km)

Walk on the “Wine Trail” passing Alsatian vineyards. You cross Ungersberg (901m) and visit the castle of Bernstein before descending towards the wine village of Dieffentahl.

Day 4 Dieffenthal - St Hippolyte (Walking – 18 km)

Follow paths through woods and vineyards that lead along the edge of the hills, or via the landmark castle of Koenisbourg, to the delightful village of Saint Hippolyte, set amongst vineyards, against the wooded hills of Les Voges.

Day 5 St Hippolyte – Ribeauvillé (Walking – 13 km)

Walk towards the castles of Ribeaupierre and Girsberg to reach Ribeauvillé. Pass through Bergheim, one of the only Alsace towns to have its medival fortification walls still in-tact.

Day 6 Ribeauvillé – Riquewihr (Walking – 14 km)

The path leads you to past three castles then continues through vineyards to the delightful village of Riquewihr with its perfectly preserved medieval streets and houses.

Day 7 Riquewihr - Kaysersberg (Walking – 12 km + 6 km)

Walk past the Chapel of Saint Alexis and climb to Castle Kayserberg to enjoy a splendid panorama over the famous wine village Kayserberg, where you will stay tonight. Optional extension to Kientzheim, considered the prettiest village of Alsace.

Day 8 Kaysersberg – Colmar – (Train) - Strasbourg

Arrangements end after breakfast in Kayserberg.  You can take a taxi to Colmar Station from where you can take a train to Strasbourg. Colmar showcases architecture from the Middle Ages to the 18th Century and the famous Little Venice canal quarter.

With its monumental cathedral featuring carvings as delicate as any piece of lacework, Strasbourg is one of Europe’s most attractive cities. Thanks to the richness and sheer density of its heritage sites, the entire town centre has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Strasbourg is definitely well worth a visit, to discover its history, its cuisine and its unique atmosphere.
