Your Journey - Dijon To BeauneThis walking tour across the vineyards will lead you from Dijon to Beaune, capital of Burgundy wine, passing through the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune vineyards, following from time to time the Grand Cru Route. You will discover marvellous landscapes and the prestigious Burgundy vineyards. Contrasts of the Côte d’Or will astonish you! Day 1 Arrive Dijon Tour briefing between 4 -6 pm with tour manager. Day 2 Dijon - Marsonnay - Gevrey-Chambertin - 9km A lovely ramble through vineyards. Enjoy a tasting lunch with wine at a ‘Domaine” (winery). Day 3 Gevrey-Chambertin - Nuits-Saint-Georges or Vougeot - 14km Walk through the most renowned vineyards of Cote de Nuits: Gevrey Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Vosne Romanée. Wine-tasting at a ‘Domaine” of Burgundy wine. Day 4 Nuits-Saint-Georges or Vougeot - Beaune - 19km Leave landscapes of “Hautes Côtes de Beaune” to discover the “Hautes Côtes de Nuits”. On this road the Burgundian heritage will offer you a marvellous panorama. (Optional lunch with tasting of 6 wines, €130 per person) Day 5 Beaune Wander the ancient, cobbled streets. The Hotel-Dieu in Beaune and the Hospices de Beaune is a must to visit, the old hospital founded in 1443. If you are in Beaune on a Saturday, we recommend a visit to the famous food and clothes market. Day 6 Beaune Arrangements end after breakfast. This part is known as the 'German Way'or the 'Hungarian Way' and dates back to Medieval times. Follow paths across hillsides of famous wine ‘crus’ of the Cote de Beaune and the Cote Chalonnaise including Pommard and Chassagne-Montrachet. Walk from village to village, discovering Romanesque churches and ancient sites along the way till you reach the great pilgrimage place town of Cluny. Arrive Beaune the “Capital of Wine”. Briefing with tour manager 4 – 6 pm. Allow some time to see Beaune - Places to visit: the “Chapelle Saint Jacques” and the “Hospices”. The Saturday market is also a must. Optional 4 course “gastronomic dinner” in a Michelin 1* restaurant. Day 2 Beaune - Chagny 29 km Cross the vineyard hills of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and pass through villages from Volnay to Meursault. Find the remains of an ancient castle. You will then join up with Chagny, its XVth observation tower and its lovely residences. Today a delicious “tasting lunch” with wine, charcuterie and cheeses at a “Domaine” (winery) is included in your tour. Day 3 Chagny – Givry - Dracy le Fort 18 km Continue crossing the vineyards via Rully, the Gallo-Roman camp, known as the “Camp de César” and the charming village of Mercurey and its ramparts. Pass crosses, wash houses and vintner houses, before arriving in Givry. Today a Burgundy wine tasting at a “Domaine” (winery) is included in your tour. Day 4 Givry – Saint Gengoux Le National 32km This route along the “Voie Verte” will allow you to discover forest scenery and country villages with “cadoles” (small stone huts built by winegrowers), wash houses and fountains. At Saint Gengoux le National visit its Romanesque Church, with ramparts, gargoyles and belfry. Day 5 Saint Gengoux le National - Cluny 25km The countryside is hillier in this area. Stop to visit the small city of Cormatin and the great place of pilgrimage of Taizé. You will end your tour in Cluny, the spiritual centre of Europe in the Middle Ages. Places to see: the Abbey, the fortification remains, the “Haras National” (Stud farm). Day 6 Arrangements end in Cluny. We can arrange a transfer to Macon Station.
