Dolomites – King of the Alps

Self Guided Tour - 7 Days / 6 Nights

Idyllic mountain lakes, lush green pastures, picture-book alpine villages and the legendary Dolomites provide the background for this stunning walk through three nature parks.
You’ll enjoy breathtaking impressions of the Sexten Mountains on hikes around the “Drei Zinnen” and the Trident. At the beautiful mountain lake Prags you’ll marvel at the whitewashed walls of the Seekofels Mountain mirrored in its crystal clear water.
And relaxing in the exquisite mountain town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, prepare to be constantly dazzled by striking views of the summits of the Cristallo ranges.

Your Journey

Day 1

Arrive Niederdorf.

Day 2 Niederdorf – Prags Valley (4-6 hours)

From the crystal clear turquoise waters of Lake Pragser Wildsee, ascend through alpine pasture and coniferous forest to the Platzwiese plateau. Walk can be shortened with a transfer.

Day 3 Plätzwiese - Strudelkopf or Durrenstein - Plätzwiese (3 - 5 hours)

Circuit walk in the vast pastureland of Platzwiese in the Fanes Sennes Prags Nature Park, largest in the Dolomites. Stunning views of Monte Cristallo and the Three Peaks. You can take a shorter route

Day 4 Knappenfuss Valley - Gemärk/Climabanche - Cortina d’Ampezzo (2-8 hours)

Walk in the Knappenfuss Valley to Gemark/Climabanche then take either of two options to descend to the beautiful town of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Day 5: Circuit Track: Cable Car Faloria (3-5 hours)

The panorama of today’s starting point - the giant rocks of the Ampezzo Dolomites - is simply stunning. Walk in the deep valley, surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery of the Tofane, the Sorapis and the Cristallo. You can take the cable car up some of the way or choose to climb on foot.

Day 6: Cortina D’Ampezzo – Tre Cime (3 peaks) – Rifugio Auronzo (3-5 hours)

A morning transfer will take you from Cortina to the Auronzo Hut situated below the 'Three Peaks'. Hike through the Rienz valley to the world-famous, iconic Tre Cime - Three Peaks. Rest at the adjacent refuge where expansive decks afford the best views. The Three Peaks were the scene of important activity during World War I between Italy and Austria-Hungary.
