Guided Tour - 8 Days / 7 Nights

For centuries the Italian Lakes region has captivated and inspired royalty, poets, artists and wanderers with its majestic beauty and breathtaking vistas. On this walking holiday you’ll fully experience the charm of the region as you walk through vineyards and olive groves, past magnificent villas (keep an eye out for George Clooney!), and explore amazing Lakes Como and Garda, Menaggio and St Moritz.
This trip is a cultural adventure that takes you from Milan to Verona and includes a mix of discovery, history and relaxation. Highlights include travelling on one of the world’s most scenic alpine train journeys from St Moritz to Tirano, through the Bernina Alps aboard the Bernina Express.

Your Journey

Day 1

Arrive Milan, Italy.

Day 2 - Milan - Lake Como - Menaggio. Walking: Approximately 3 Hours

Orientation of Milan on foot visiting the Cathedral, the Galleria and the medieval castle. Transfer to Como and walk Old Como before travelling to the romantic town of Menaggio, dotted with elegant villas and crowned by an old castle; our base for the next three nights.

Day 3 - Tremezzo - Bellagio - Menaggio. Walking: Approximately 3-4 Hours

Travel to the lakeside village of Tremezzo to discover one of the trip’s highlights, the Villa Carlotta, then board a boat to the exquisite village of Bellagio for a walk into the countryside - past picturesque fishing harbours and beautiful villas. A ferry takes us back to Menaggio.

Day 4 - Lake Como - Menaggio

Today is a free day for you to enjoy all that Menaggio and the surrounding area has to offer. Depending on your energy levels there are a number of different routes in the area.

Day 5 - Lake Iseo - Limone- Riva del Garda. Walking: Approximately 3 Hours

Today transter to Lake Garda.  Visit an old lemon farm.  Continue on to the northern point of Lake Garda and the lovely Riva del Garda.

Day 6 -Riva del Garda.  Walking: Approximately 3-4 Hours

Take a boat from the northern and more alpine side of the lake to the southern side, which has a more Mediterranean feel, passing many pretty lakeside villages en route. Alight in the town of Garda itself, dominated by its ‘rocca’ (fort), complete with an abbey and the remains of a medieval castle. Climb up towards the abbey, for beautiful views over the lake. Easy afternoon walk to the peninsula of San Vigilio And small medieval hamlet. Return to Riva.

Day 7 - Malcesine - Riva del Garda. Walking: Approximately 3-4 Hours

Walk along the lake shore to Torbole and then take a ferrry to Malcesine. Enjoy fabulous views as you board the cable car up to Monte Baldo.  Retrun to Riva in the late afternoon.

Day 8

Walking holiday ends this morning with a transfer to Verona.

Terrain

Easy guided walking on terrain that varies from well-defined paths to rocky trails.

Meals

7 breakfasts, 2 dinners.
